Two Indians won the Ramon Magsaysay Award. They are Sanjiv Chaturvedi and Anshu Gupta. Established in 1957, the Ramon Magsaysay Award is Asia’s highest honour that can be conferred upon individuals.


A.P.J Abdul Kalam

A school run by Dr Urvashi Sahni is giving underprivileged girls not only an education but also their first lesson in feminism.

Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, popularly known as the People’s President passed away on 27th July 2015 while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

Annoyed by the ‘gender bias’ in the public education system in Rajasthan, the students of 3 government schools in Rajasthan locked up their school gates and staged a demonstration.

In a sad turn of events, Mumbai school teachers had to stage demonstrations on the streets and resort to begging after the state government decided not to provide aid to unaided schools.
